In our journey to strengthen our capacity in Juncao Technology, Philemon Farm traveled to China to learn directly from experts where Juncao Technology was developed. This visit allowed us to understand how Juncao Grass is cultivated and how mushrooms are grown using vertical mushroom farming systems that maximize production on small land. ✅ WHAT IS JUNCAO TECHNOLOGY?
Juncao Technology is an innovative agricultural technology that uses Juncao Grass as a substitute for wood-based mushroom substrates. This technology was developed in China and is now being applied in many countries to support:
- Sustainable mushroom farming
- Livestock feed production
- Climate-smart agriculture
- Soil restoration
- Youth employment and agribusiness
At Philemon Farm, we use Juncao Technology to train farmers, youth, and women to produce mushrooms efficiently using locally produced Juncao Grass.

During our visit to China, Philemon Farm learned how to produce mushrooms using vertical farming systems. This method allows farmers to:
- Grow mushrooms on very small land
- Increase production using shelves and stacking systems
- Reduce water and space usage
- Improve hygiene and disease control
This approach is especially important for urban farmers and youth entrepreneurs with limited land.
